Services

  • Exam & X-Rays

Our dental checkup includes a full examination to assess the overall health of your teeth and gums. This comprehensive examination includes:

Digital Bite-Wing X-Rays: We take two digital bite-wing x-rays to get a clear view of the areas between your teeth and beneath the gumline. This helps us identify any hidden issues that might not be visible during a visual examination.

Clinical Assessment: Our dental professionals will conduct a clinical assessment to identify any signs of decay, gum disease, or other dental issues. Early detection is crucial as it allows us to restore and prevent decay before it causes extensive damage.

Treatment Plan: If further treatment is required, we ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with all the options available to you. Our dentists will provide a detailed quote with our prices and a clear treatment plan tailored to your needs.

    Cleaning

    Ultrasonic Scaling

With our ultrasonic scaler, we remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively and comfortably around your teeth and gums. Here are some benefits of an ultrasonic scaler:

    • Comfortable Cleaning: The ultrasonic scaler is gentle, making it possible to clean sensitive teeth often without the need for local anesthetic injections.

    • Effective Calculus Removal: Removes hard plaque and tartar which cannot be removed by a toothbrush at home, which prevents gum disease and maintains a healthy mouth.

    Prophy-Jet Polishing

Sometimes referred to as the "Water & Sand Blaster", to polish your teeth, we use the innovative Prophy-Jet which uses a combination of air, water, and sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda) to remove dental plaque, soft debris, and stains while simultaneously polishing your teeth. The prophy jet is more efficient, effective and gentle compared to the traditional polishing tools.

    Pricing

Check-Up Only (No Clean): Our dental exams are $137 and includes a set of x-rays. Any additional x-rays/scans required may come at an additional charge which we will discuss with you at the appointment.

    Check-Up & Clean - $203 (Special Deal!)

Clean-Only (No Check-Up) - $183. This service is only available for existing patients who have had a check-up in the past.

  • Fillings

At Colombo Street Dental, we provide high-quality dental fillings to restore the health and function of teeth affected by decay or damage. Our filling services are designed to be both durable and aesthetically pleasing, ensuring your smile remains healthy and natural-looking.

    What is a Dental Filling?

A dental filling is a treatment used to repair minor to moderate cavities or tooth damage fillings help restore the tooth’s structure, prevent further decay, and maintain its normal function. We offer a range of filings including:

    • Composite fillings made from a blend of plastic resins and fine glass particles matching the colour of your natural teeth for a seamless look. These fillings are light-cured and are instantly hardened meaning you are able to eat straightaway after the procedure. This is the most common type of filling material we use as they are strong and durable and are aesthetically pleasing.

    • Glass ionomer fillings, or GIC fillings, are a self-adhesive restorative material and release fluoride, which can help protect the tooth. We generally would use these in teeth that have very deep decay to improve the chance of success on the filling, avoiding a toothache that could lead to losing your tooth or getting a root canal. GIC fillings are also used on cases with a tricky area of access. Unlike the composite fillings, GIC is chemical cured and you will need to be a little careful biting or chewing in the area for a few hours after the procedure.

    What does this look like?

If an area for filling has been identified during an examination our dentists will determine the best treatment plan for you going forward.

At your appointment for the filling the area will be numbed with local anesthetic to ensure comfort before preparing the tooth. Any decay or damaged portions of tooth can then be removed. The filling material will be carefully placed into the cavity and sculpted into a natural shape.

We are committed to providing comfortable and effective filling services to maintain your oral health. Contact us today to schedule an appointment and learn more about our restorative treatments.

    Pricing

During our initial assessment, our dentists will discuss your treatment plans and exact quotes for you, so you know what to expect.

Initial Assessment: Consultations are $137 and includes a set of x-rays. Any additional x-rays/scans required may come at an additional charge which we will discuss with you at the appointment.

Fillings: Our fillings can range from $275-$450 per filling depending on the materials and the complexity of the filling (i.e. whether it is single surface or multi-surface). If you require multiple fillings in a single appointment, this will often come at a reduced cost per filling which will be listed on your treatment plan.

  • Crowns What is a crown?

A dental crown is a custom ‘cap’ that fully covers the surface of a tooth, used to restore and protect a heavily damaged or decayed tooth. Our in-house crowns can be made with either E-max or Zirconia ceramic and are designed to function just like a normal tooth, so you can eat, speak and smile with confidence.

Is a crown right for me?

Crowns are a versatile and effective solution for a range of dental issues, offering both functional and cosmetic benefits. You may want to consider having a crown restoration if you have:

    • Large cavities that a filling cannot adequately restore – a crown is much stronger than a filling.

    • Broken, fractured or severely worn-down teeth to restore shape and functionality.

    • After root canal therapy which can leave the tooth brittle and prone to fractures in the future.

    • Severe tooth decay: by covering the tooth with a crown you can salvage and protect remaining, healthy tooth structure.

    • Crowns are also used to surround dental implants

    Pricing

Prices of crowns will vary depending on the type of crown chosen and any treatment required prior to the crown being placed. As we are able to offer in-house, single day crown services, we pride ourselves on being able to provide our services that are more convenient and affordable for our patients without compromising on quality.

    • Hybrid Crowns starting at $650

    • Monolithic EMAX starting at $1299

    • Zirconia, PFM and Pressed Emax starting at $1450 -$1550

Most crowns made in one day on site in the same appointment.

E-max crowns are a type of all-ceramic crown known for their superior aesthetics and strength. They are highly translucent and can closely match the natural color of your teeth, making them ideal for font teeth or other visible areas.

Zirconia crowns are also ceramic but are known for their exceptional strength and durability. As one of the strongest materials used in dental restorations, they are ideal for back teeth that endure a lot of chewing and force. They are also highly resistant to fractures and wear, making them long-lasting and suitable for patients who grind their teeth.

All options can be discussed at a consultation with our dentists prior to your crown appointment to determine the best treatment plan based on your specific dental needs.

We are dedicated to providing comfortable and effective crown treatments to help you maintain a healthy and beautiful smile. Contact us today to learn more or schedule an appointment.

    Bridges

Dental bridges are an effective solution for replacing one or more missing teeth, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits.

    What is a bridge?

Dental bridges are fixed prosthetics (artificial teeth) that “bridge” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. They are a fixed solution, permanently anchored in place by cementing them to supportive, healthy adjacent teeth or crowned adjacent teeth. Unlike dentures, they cannot be freely removed and look very natural blending in with existing teeth.

    Types of Bridges

    • Traditional Bridge: a traditional bridge consists of a false tooth, or teeth being held in place by dental crowns that have been placed onto each of the abutment (adjacent) teeth. It is the most popular type of bridge and can be used when you have natural teeth on both sides of the gap.

    • Cantilever Bridge: Similar to a traditional bridge, a cantilever bridge is a good option if there is only one tooth or crown suitable for anchoring as it needs only one natural tooth next to the gap to be placed. The artificial tooth/teeth is cemented to a single tooth or crown next to the gap.

    • Implant-Supported Bridges: these are anchored by dental implants rather than natural teeth, providing excellent stability and support.

    What is the Process?

    • An initial consultation to examine your mouth, discuss your needs and determine if a dental bridge is the right solution for you.

    • With the help of one of the best digital scanning technologies in dentistry, we will 3D scan your mouth to make precise impressions of your teeth and gums creating a custom bridge that fits perfectly.

    • Preparation on the existing teeth may be needed and include removing a portion of enamel to make room for the crown(s) that will anchor the bridge in place.

    • Once your custom bridge is ready it is carefully fitted and adjusted for comfort and functionality, then permanently cemented in place.

  • Assessment

Do my wisdom teeth need removing?

While the average adult has four wisdom teeth, this does not apply to everybody - some may have fewer or even none! Wisdom teeth typically emerge when you are a young adult as your jaw develops to its full size. Due to evolution and changes in our diet, our jaw has become smaller over time resulting in insufficient spaces for wisdom teeth to emerge properly which can lead to various issues.

Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed. Some people's wisdom teeth come in properly without causing any issues. However, for most other individuals, the wisdom teeth can cause discomfort and pain. Here are some scenarios that indicate you may have to get your wisdom teeth removed:

    • Partial eruption: the wisdom tooth is partly through and cutting through the gums but not able to fully erupt causing the gums to be inflamed and infected. Food can often get trapped in the area.

    • The wisdom teeth is decayed: This is often caused by the inability to access and clean this area properly as there is not enough space.

    • Damage in the surrounding teeth:

    Getting an assessment

If you are experiencing pain or concerns surrounding your wisdom teeth - it is best to come in for a consultation where our dentists will assess and discuss your options with you. We have a OPG and CT scanning machine in house which helps us identify their positions and identify and potential risks such as proximity to nerves or sinuses. Understanding these risks beforehand allows us to plan and reduce the chances of complications during and after surgery.

    Sedation

Is sedation the right option for me?

Sedation can be a good option for treatments such as extraction of several teeth at once, especially if you are anxious about the procedure. Patients are sometimes advised getting sedation for the extraction of wisdom teeth as they sit right at the back of your mouth - making access to them difficult and uncomfortable. At Colombo Street Dental, we offer the option of IV sedation. This means you are awake but you feel relaxed, and you often don't remember a lot about the procedure afterwards. During the initial assessment, our dentists will assess the complexity of the procedure as well as take into account your medical history and medications and give you some guidance on whether sedation is a preferable option for you.

    Pricing

At Colombo Street Dental, we aim to be transparent with our pricing so that our patients and rest at ease knowing there are no surprises. These pricing are a rough guideline as every individual is different. During our initial assessment, our dentists will discuss your treatment plans and exact quotes for you.

Initial Assessment: Consultations are $137 and includes intraoral x-rays. Wisdom teeth assessments usually require extraoral imaging (OPG panoramic x-rays) which would come at an additional $50 with your consult appointment.

    Upper Wisdom Tooth: $297

Lower Wisdom Tooth (Surgical Extraction): $550

    IV Sedation: + $500
